  • This course outlines some of the differences between BiCC 1.x and BiCC 2 for current Caption Colorado captioners.


  • This course will provide you information on the ins and outs of BiCC and how to caption an event for Caption Colorado.


  • Each year, every captioner will take a test on procedures to ensure that all captioners understand procedures. There are separate tests for broadcast (television), Thomson and Relay.

    You will only take a test for the types of work that you do. For example, if you do both Thomson and television, you will take the tests for each of those. If you do only television, just take the one test for that.

    In this course you will develop the dictation skills necessary to manipulate the Speech Recognition Engine, thereby maximizing your recognition accuracy.

    Once you've mastered theory, the Skill Building section of the course offers drills to reinforce the learned concepts. Using these audio recordings, you can improve articulation, enunciation, and other necessary techniques used in realtime voicewriting. The enrollment period for this course is 6 months and upon completion of course, participant may submit 40 clock hours towards CEUs.

    Materials Needed: Computer, SRE, Microphone or Mask, Headphones

  • This course discussess techniques used in captioning sports.
  • This course contains drills utilizing audio recordings that you can use to improve articulation, enunciation, and other necessary techniques in realtime voicewriting.  The enrollment period for this course is six months.  Upon completion of course, participant may submit 20 clock hours for CEUs.

    Materials Needed:  Computer, SRE, Microphone or Mask, Headphones

    This course instructs the student in developing dictation skills necessary to manipulate the Speech Recognition Engine, thereby maximizing recognition accuracy.The enrollment period for this course is three months.  Upon completion of course, participant can submit 20 clock hours for CEUs.

    Materials Needed:  Computer, SRE, Microphone or Mask, Headphones

  • This course is an open-ended, instructor-led, interactive course which covers aspects of steno captioning including career exploration, paraphrasing, preparation, and offline captioning.

    By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 

    • List and describe characteristics of captioners
    • Describe aspects and some duties of the captioning job/profession
    • Demonstrate the ability to prepare for three types of realtime captioning
    • Construct dictionaries and create a dictionary hierarchy that will prevent undesired translations

    This course is 30 clock hours and the enrollment period for this course is 30 days.

  • Are you a stenowriter who wants to improve your realtime writing translation rates?   Do you want to spend less time editing?  Do you need help in preparing for the CRR?  Then this course is for you!

    By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Analyze problem sequences of words and develop paraphrasing skills for those problems
    • Create training materials and recordings for use in altering kinesthetic skills to avoid unexpected translations when providing realtime translation.

    The enrollment period for this course is 6 months.

  • This course provides information on using Windows XP, MS Communicator, Google and the Internet, and supplemental information about Caption Colorado.


  • This course provides the VRC training for stenocaptioners.


  • This course is for new captioners who will be captioning internet events (VRC and other) and won't be coming to Denver for training.
