• Essentials of Broadcast Captioning

  Cost: $595.00

  This course is an open-ended, instructor-led, interactive course which covers aspects of steno captioning including career exploration, paraphrasing, preparation, and offline captioning.

  By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 

  • List and describe characteristics of captioners
  • Describe aspects and some duties of the captioning job/profession
  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare for three types of realtime captioning
  • Construct dictionaries and create a dictionary hierarchy that will prevent undesired translations

  This course is 30 clock hours and the enrollment period for this course is 30 days.

  • Analyze problem sequences of words and develop paraphrasing skills for those problems
  • Create training materials and recordings for use in altering kinesthetic skills to avoid unexpected translations when providing realtime translation.
